This is meant to be a thought-provoking post, so I've been mullng it over for a few weeks.  First of all, you probably think I'm kidding around with this title or that I'm just trying to get your attention; I'm not.  I really do believe that we, as a society, hate people who think outside the box—in reality, versus in theory.  We don't love innovators; we love winners.

I wasn't going to say anything, but then The New York Times had to go and print an article about Paul Ryan's nomination for Vice President being a wake-up call for "Generation X." He was born in 1970, so we're in the same age bracket, as are Julian Castro (37) and Marc Rubio (41). 

One of the topics I've been yearning to write about is life in Downtown Los Angeles.  People always seem surprised that we live here and I always get the same questions.  This makes me think there's enough interest in the subject to warrant more discussion.
